Resin-bound driveways and patios in Nanaimo

Mid-island rain is hard on flat driveways. A resin-bound surface lets water drain straight through, so the puddle in front of the garage stops coming back every winter.

What we see on central island jobs

Rain with nowhere to go. Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville and Qualicum get the kind of November-to-February rain that punishes any flat surface that doesn't drain. Concrete ponds at the low spot, asphalt softens and ruts, and pavers push apart as the base saturates and freezes overnight.

Water goes through, not across. A resin-bound surface is permeable, so rain soaks through to the base and away. Flat driveways in Hammond Bay or Departure Bay, where the original grading was a little off, stop pooling. The same goes for long rural pads in Cedar and Yellow Point.

Older concrete worth keeping. There's a lot of mid-century concrete around the Old City, Westwood Lake and the harbour that's cracked on the surface but structurally sound. Most of it can be resurfaced without demolition.

We work across Nanaimo, Cedar, Yellow Point, Lantzville, Nanoose Bay, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, French Creek and Bowser.

  • Resurfacing cracked concrete driveways

Old City, Westwood, North Nanaimo, and rural Lantzville and Cedar lots. The slab stays; the surface is new.

    Driveways
  • Backyard patios

Acreages through Yellow Point, Cedar and Nanoose Bay. It pours around fire pits, hot tubs and awkward changes in grade.

    Patios
  • Long rural driveways

The gravel driveway you re-grade twice a year. A drained, rut-free surface along the whole run.

  • Pool surrounds

Common in the newer Departure Bay and Long Lake subdivisions. Splash drains through and it stays grippy.

Nanaimo questions

Anything else? Call (250) 802-6488.

Does it stand up to mid-island rain?

That's where it does best. Rain soaks through the surface into the base instead of sitting on top, so there's no ponding at the low spot and less ice in a cold snap.

Will it work on a sloped or badly graded driveway?

In most cases. Because water drains through, perfect grading matters less. We still check the base on the site visit and tell you if extra drainage is needed.

How does it compare to stamped concrete?

Stamped concrete still cracks at the control joints and traps grime in the pattern. Resin-bound stone has no joints and flexes slightly with temperature, so it doesn't develop the same cracks.

Do you take on strata or commercial work?

Yes. Strata pathways, shared driveways and commercial entrances. Call us to talk through the scope.
