Patios
One seamless surface around fire pits, hot tubs, steps and planters.

Walkways and paths
Curves through the garden without edges to lift or joints to weed.

Pool decks
Grippy when wet and comfortable on bare feet. Splash drains straight through.

No joints, no puddles, no weeds
Concrete cracks at its joints, pavers heave and grow moss, and asphalt ruts and needs seal-coating. A resin-bound surface doesn't have those weak spots.
Drains straight through
Rain soaks through the surface into the base below, so it doesn't pond or sheet across the driveway.
Nothing for weeds to grow in
No joints and no sand, so weeds and moss have nowhere to take root.
Rides out freeze-thaw
The resin has a little give, so it moves with the seasons instead of cracking like concrete.
Won't yellow in the sun
UV-stable resin keeps light stone blends looking light.
Low upkeep
Sweep it and pressure wash it once or twice a year. A light reseal every five to ten years keeps it fresh.
Goes over what you have
Sound concrete or asphalt can usually be resurfaced in place, without demolition.
How it compares
It costs more up front than concrete or asphalt. Here's what you get for the difference.
| What matters | Resin-bound stone | Concrete | Pavers | Asphalt |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rain | Drains through the surface | Runs off or ponds | Drains at the joints | Runs off or ponds |
| Weeds and moss | No joints to grow in | In cracks and control joints | In every joint | At edges and cracks |
| Freeze-thaw | Flexes rather than cracking | Cracks over time | Can heave and shift | Cracks and ruts |
| Upkeep | Wash yearly, light reseal every 5 to 10 years | Crack repair, sealing if decorative | Re-sand, weed and re-level | Seal-coat every 2 to 3 years |
| Over an old surface | Usually, if it's sound | Old slab usually removed | Old surface removed | Can be paved over |
| Upfront cost | Mid to high | Low to mid | High | Lowest |
Typical residential installs. Permeable pavers and porous asphalt exist, but they cost more and are rare on the island.

“Trevor with Treadstone did an excellent job on my garage. Transformed from ugly cracked concrete to a real showroom. I found Trevor hard working, got the job done on time with no delays and left a clean site. Have had no hesitation in recommending him to my friends and neighbours.”
Barry CalvinGarage floor, Google review -
“Trevor did our huge double garage and it came out far beyond expectations. The polyaspartic floor is warm to walk on, a breeze to clean and it looks beautiful. Trevor was professional, knowledgeable, punctual and he went above and beyond in completing our garage. …”
Lucia LowryGarage floor, Google review -
“Trevor transformed both our garage and crawlspace floors from cracked dusty concrete to epoxied works of art! … Trevor was easy to work with and showed up when he said he would. Fair price for work that has elevated the look of our home and covered up ugly concrete settling cracks. …”

Common questions
More answers on the FAQ page, or call (250) 802-6488.
How much does a resin-bound driveway cost?
It depends on the size, what's there now, edging and the blend. Published installed prices for resin-bound surfacing in the US mostly run about US$10 to US$18 a square foot, and the Canadian quotes we've seen published run about C$14 to C$20. Resurfacing a sound slab sits toward the lower end; a new permeable base adds digging and materials.
That's more than plain concrete or asphalt, and usually less than good interlocking pavers. We measure for free and send a written, all-in quote, with any base repairs spelled out.
Can it go over my existing concrete or asphalt?
Usually, yes. If the slab is structurally sound, with no major settling or crumbling, we repair the cracks, clean and prime it, lay a reinforcement mesh and trowel the stone surface over the top. That saves the cost and mess of demolition. If the base is failing, we'll show you on the site visit and price a new base instead.
How does it handle snow, ice and de-icing salt?
Well. Water drains through instead of sitting on top, so there's less to freeze, and the resin is made to flex through freeze-thaw rather than crack. For snow, use a plastic shovel, or a plow or snowblower with a plastic blade. Metal blades can scrape stones loose. Vuba doesn't publish guidance on de-icing salt, so ask us before you use any.
Does it need sealing?
Not every year. Vuba's care guide is simple: sweep it, pressure wash it once or twice a year, and give it a light reseal with a UV-stable sealer every five to ten years. There's no re-sanding, re-levelling or yearly seal-coating like pavers and asphalt need.
How long does it last?
Vuba says a properly installed and cared-for resin-bound surface lasts for decades. What shortens its life is a poor base or rushed prep, which is why we check what's underneath before we quote and fix it first.
How long does installation take?
Most driveways and patios take one to two days on site: prep first, then the install. After that, keep off it for 24 to 48 hours and don't drive on it for 48 to 72 hours, depending on the temperature. It reaches full strength in about 8 to 10 days.
